Clomazone is an isoxazolinone herbicide that inhibits the DOXP pathway of carotenoid biosynthesis, causing bleaching and death in susceptible weeds. It is used as a pre-emergence and early post-emergence herbicide in soybean, cotton, maize, and rice for control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. Clomazone is known for its vapor activity, which can cause whitening in non-target crops at certain distances under humid conditions. AB Enterprises provides Clomazone technical grade material to formulators developing EC and microencapsulated herbicide products. Its unique mode of action offers valuable rotational options in weed resistance management programs.
